CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, Calif. — October 27, 2026. Contra Costa County’s Board approved a City of Walnut Creek agreement under which the city will pay the county up to $23,065 for evening and weekend homeless outreach through the Coordinated Outreach, Referral and Engagement (CORE) program.
Scope and funding
The contract covers July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. The CORE program works to contact people living without stable housing and link them with relevant resources and services. It provides additional outreach capacity during hours when ordinary daytime offices may not be open.
What the decision does not guarantee
This is an outreach-services contract, not a new permanent housing development or guarantee that every person contacted will immediately receive a shelter bed. Services, hours and enrollment should be confirmed with the county or City of Walnut Creek.
